In between flat tires...that was a pretty good weekend. Those Monkey Boys did a pretty good job of helping me forget the three hours I waited on the side of SH171 just west of Hubbard. Note to self..no matter how much you get the urge..when on your scooter stay off the shoulder... Yeah well sometimes you just have to sit and endure the pain and discomfort...hmmmm that statement should be incorporated into the standard wedding vows. Anyway...many thanks to Me And My Monkey for making Friday so memorable I barely remember the six hour virus in the middle of my trek to the Metroplex. I do want to give partial credit to the Mich Ultra and the blond number perched next to me at the bar...oh they helped as well....What band??

Remember I said tires... I was still feeling the effects of some of the best blues around when I discovered that my truck..bless it's old heart..had a less that fluffy front paw/tire when I returned to Waco. Thank good ness for Jason Elmore and Hoo Doo Witch for assuaging my grief from that little find...this is the 21st century...why do we still have pneumatic tires?? What happened to the jet cars those Jetson folks had?? Ok where was I...oh yeah Jason...that Cat can flat bring it..and let me make this little announcement right now...I will remind you...this coming New Years Eve...Jason Elmore...Oliver White...both..we have them both for what will most certainly be the Blues Event of 2010 and 2011...North North Texas invades North Central Texas....this will be something to remember...Tickets go on sale December 1st..I will remind you..some one remind me...

OK now this weekend....The Fabulous Fender Benders take the stage Friday night..Fender Heads Unite!!! I would really like to see a return of this once mighty army of followers...c'mon Fender Heads...it's time!!

Saturday..some band named Coldrake ...I may have heard of them before...oh wait..yeah now I remember..this is that band that plays all the hugely kick arse rock & roll...ohhhh yeahhhh Now I remember..and they seem to have a following of a fair to middlin quantity of single ladies.... And...they have a real Engineer in the band so if an oil spill erupts out in the parking lot...he can get the train started really fast and get us out of there... Small cover Satruday...arrive early.

One sort of sad note...our wonderful sister and fellow Stumpian Miss Gina lost her dad this week. We thought about flowers or plant or something but Miss Anna came up with a much better idea...we are going to keep a jar up front for everyone to maybe place a little something in it to help with some of the smaller funeral costs etc...A memorial to a good man that gave us his wonderful daughter to be our friend and fellow Stumpian... (over look the fact that she completely rejected me and my advances years ago...) We love you Gina.

In Two weeks....be ready...A Higgins is coming armed with a double barreled Leah and an automatic FUNN TEXAS. This invasion is turning into a Big Wampum with an army led by Kitten's Krew. There will be photo shoot aimed at saving breasts for all mankind to revel in..or motor boat..which ever you prefer. Saturday May 22nd...just Be ready...Beware..and Be at Stumpy's.

About two o'clock Friday afternoon ..while I was sitting on my scooter...the one with the flat tire..I realized that no matter how long it took at some point I would be back in my spot...cold Mich in hand. Help was on the way...I live in America. Veterans like Gina's dad who just passed sacrificed a lot for us to have this home...the Men and Women who wear Americas Military uniforms and put themselves in harms way...sacrifice a lot for us to have this home.. Say a prayer for them...no sacrifice needed...just a little visit with God..take the time.

I truly hate to sound corny...my good friend and older, wiser confidant Sandy tells me I am a real dork..did you notice that I said older? Anyway at the risk of sounding corny or dorky or nerdy ..let me just say this...the new band Gina brought us Friday..Outta The Blue ..well they really did a great job and it was a truly terrific surprise...it's like they came ..(are you ready for this??)...yep..right out of the blue...I know that was really bad and I apologize but it had to be done... Nice gig dudes...

Saturday THE ZEW rocked us!! I would say something like all the animals felt uncaged and free but that would just prolong this agonizing search for something to say ...soooo I will just go with..that was fun...they will be back as will Outta The Blue..Really nice weekend Stumpians..thanks.

OK now this coming weekend prepare to be entertained...Friday Night it is back to the 60's...dig out your old Beatle Boots(I had some)..get out that tattered old Beatles Wig( I had one)..dust off your Nehru Jacket..( I was not that dorky Sandy...I did not have one of those)..do what ever it takes to get ready for Me And My Monkey...I looove this band...like I say every time..I know all the words to all the songs. Saturday Night...Birthday Parties Abound..Sam, Nikki, RahRah and Amy ...I am throwing in a special word for my Friend Lei Lei in Chi-Town..I rudely left mention of her Birthday out last week..how dare I...well I am old..I do forget..( I Iove that excuse) ...Anyway back to the parties...might I suggest we all take time to take naps Saturday afternoon because Saturday night you are going to want to remain alert...this may get interesting...on top of all that...Jason Elmore and Hoo Doo Witch will be on stage...and it is their CD Release Party!! This is Jason Stumpians!!!

If I may repeat myself...I will put our entertainment line up against any other venue in the Metroplex...Friday Night..The Fab Faux Four:Me And My Monkey ...Saturday night...The Incredibly talented Jason Elmore and Hoo Doo Witch CD Release Party....(FYI just signed for July .American Idol Third Runner Up, Nikki McKibbin)

I can't let this go with out making some mention...I caught the Reverend Al Sharpton on one of the Talking Heads Sunday morning "News" shows... He was expounding his views on this Arizona Immigration mess..and racism..his favorite subject... Just a couple of observations...one is ..if Al is a Reverend ..why was he not in church somewhere preaching instead of spewing his racist filth on national TV?? He made this statement...and you may look it up because shockingly it is true..I heard it..."Probably not all Republicans are Racists..but all Racists are probably Republicans." My other observation is this ..Al Sharpton is an idiot who continues to suck off the poor uneducated people he caters too.

When I was attending Eastern Hills Elementary School we stood up and Pledged Allegiance the The Flag every school day...we also listened to a morning Prayer every day from the Principal Mr Freeman. By today's standards we were just awful...when did we get so smart and sophisticated as to realize the wickedness of our ways?? That must be the reason I ask for everyone to say a prayer for our servicemen every week...bad habits just seem to hang on and on and on...Hit your knees Stumpians..remember our heroes in Prayer.

"I am not really available." Not exactly the phrase a single man wants to hear at 1:30AM...you know right around closing time. About that time most single available dudes would be waiting to hear..."my place or yours" ...or ..."...let's get a room" ... or perhaps... " I have never seen the upstairs at Stumpy's" Seriously just about anything other than.."I am not really available." Once again friends and neighbors...my virtue remains intact. But..it did give me some fodder for our weekly visit ..which I apologize for being so late with. I was thinking about late night phrases we just never want to her. So here we go with the top Five Phrases No One Wants to hear at 2AM..or there abouts.

Number Five...."Have you got the keys".
Number Four... "I am pretty sure I gave the keys to you."
Number three.. "Nice to meet you..don't you think cross dressing is fun!!"
NUmber two.. "Is my make-up still covering that nasty sore on my mouth?"
and the Number one Phrase No One wants to hear at 2AM ..."Put your hands behind your back." (that one is however conditional.)

Oh well...it was late..I was tired...and pretty well danced out....whew...It was the bop bop bop best time I'd had in Stumpy's in a good long while...Velvet Love Box is just terrific. Their uniqueness of sound seemed to dull the pain and anguish of the availability problem...juuuust kidding...nothing short of Bicardi 101 could do that...oh hush.

Saturday...my band..the one I always refer to as Owners Choice...The Incredible Nosmo Kings... It was not the largest crowd in town but it was the most well entertained crowd in town. With the exception of one small window or time ..this past weekend was top five folks...

OK now this weekend...Miss Gina has brought us a new band...you remember Gina... she is on the list of rejecters ..Anyway..new band....Out Of The Blue ...this ought to be fun...and that is Friday night..NO COVER ....Saturday night...probably the best new rock band of 2010...so far anyway...THE ZEW.. there is a small cover after 9PM...arrive early Stumpians.

I want to wish a special Happy Birthday to my wonderful friend Diann....she is turning 37...wow..I have open heart wounds that old...I have festering love bites that age...I have a string of rejections that go back that far..and further..but this is not about me this is about Miss Diann,,Happy Birthday ma'am...

I also want to say a special thanks to a guy that really never needs or expects to be thanked...Rick South. Rick will admittedly drive you nuts on occasion but one would be hard pressed to find a better man or friend or Stumpian.
The extra miles he goes out of his way to help, stretch from here to deep into the hearts of everyone he hangs around... You're a good man Charlie Brown.

God was with Laura, Sharon and Bubba this weekend. Laura hydroplaned on the wet roads and wrecked her truck...she is ok. Sharon and Bubba were hit on his scooter Friday night..his scooter is toast but they are both ok...minor bumps and scrapes. These are three Stumpians we all love and I sure thank God for watching our family. There is another person I pray God watches. Someone decided Sunday morning that they needed the money we had in our safe more than we did. Yep...this person broke in and decided..on their own..that they deserved the cash we had secured in our safe more than we did. Now God...I pray you will watch over this person because this person has a problem. I do not want any harm to come to them but if this person is bent on being a thief...well one time they are going to be in the wrong place and they are going to get hurt...so watch after this person...send them some sign to show this person just how wrong they were for stealing our money..and maybe they will bring it back...but if not....just watch this person God...this person needs a lot of help. Oh and God..thanks for the lesson..we will not keep money there any longer...Oh yeah one more thing...the police gathered some evidence and we think we may know who it is...

PS..God...teach me and everyone else to love those that harm us.

Oh well..turn the page....hey thanks to you Stumpians out there ..we can absorb the loss. thanks to Tornado Alley...we can absorb the loss...Thanks to Clear Fork..we can absorb the loss...that was a killer weekend. We had an awful lot of fun..I saw a lot of smiling faces...the girls behind the bar made money for their families...I paid some taxes...Scott did well...With one exception I would say that weekend was definitely top five...maybe top three. I just cannot say enough about all the guys in Tornado Alley and all those Tornado Alley fans...it truly was like old times...ok everyone in unison...WE WANT YOU TO COME BACK!!!!! ...Ditto goes for Clear Fork. The nicest young men ...and their ladies...wow....hot hot hot...once again...WE WANT YOU BACK!!! I had a great time....I even got to spend some quality time with my BFFF Diann...and no one was Skirty...well breaking in and stealing or cash was pretty Skirty but...I will not let that get me down...period.

OK this weekend....another weekend where I dare any other Live Music Venue to try and match what we Stumpians have...Friday night...The totally unique sounds of Velvet Love Box ..I do mean unique...best sound three guys can make sitting down...read into that what ever you want...oh yeah hang around because on Saturday night we have The incredible Nosmo Kings...perhaps the best sound three guys can make standing up...once again...form your own interpretation. Six different young men on our stage this weekend..two distinct sounds...one helluva Live Music Venue....and it is all yours Stumpians...there is a cover on Friday night...arrive early.

There are lessons to be learned in just about everything that happens to us...some more expensive than others...but that is the way it goes. I refuse to hate. I thank you Stumpians for a lot of that...with all the love we have as a family there is simply no room in my heart for any hate.

Show some of that Stumpian love to our hero defenders of LIBERTY. Pray and ask God to protect them and to just let them know we are out here supporting them.

Whew...this past weekend was slooooooow. That's ok this coming weekend will make up for a lot of slow nights. In their last scheduled performance of 2010....Tornado Alley is on our stage Friday night. I think this is a big deal...I am a Tornado Alley fan. Get there early. Stumpy's will fill up with faded and somewhat tattered Tornado Alley vintage T-Shirts ...that is a guaranty. Also to entice the best ..you have to pay so there is a cover charge and we are going to move up the time we take it as well....8:30 instead of 9:00. After 8:30 the cover kicks in at 5.00 bucks a head. So...Tornadians and Stumpians one and all....just arrive before 8:30...hey come sit outside in our new expanded seating area patio...the weather is perfect.

BTW...if the person that picked up my back rest from behind the fence last Saturday night is reading this...return it ..please!! I was not throwing it away...I just set it there and intended to pick it back up Sunday morning but it was gone...sooooo ..I need it back if you have it...thanks.

OK lets continue with this coming weekend...as busy as it is going to be Friday..Saturday is not going to be any different...Miss Jo Jo and friends are bringing in what they call STUMPY'S II Reunion....Thus the newly expanded seating area outside...add to their numbers the fact that the band Saturday is Clear Fork...this is the Chick Magnet Band of the Century!! We do not get that many shots at getting them in the house but when we do.....wooo hooo..the Single Female count goes waaaaaaay up...Guys..take note of this... Oh yeah...no cover Saturday night.

What a great up coming weekend!! The return of Tornado Alley...the return of Clear Fork...now if we can get the Bad Girls to Return......Jen......Maji .....Amy...you are soooo invited back ladies...Sandork..U2!! While I am at it....uhhhh A Girl......C Babe...Leahhhh....Kat..Lou...(WTF?? another Louless weekend!!) Ladies...you need to join the Clear Fork Nation...

Well I was just about to end this day on a high note when I went to our FaceBook page and saw something I hate to see...and it happens from time to time...Apparently there are folks out there that think Johnny Nitzinger is scheduled to be at Stumpy's this weekend...well he is not. I never got a confirmation on that date and so I booked a different band, I hate that because I am a huge Nitzinger fan...but. Bobbie Mac is filling that spot and sine he has been moved twice before I am not moving him again...so there...sorry Nitz Fans...but I never got that confirmation.

OK...this past weekend...Number one..it was windy. Number two it was really windy...Number three...did you get out in that wind?? I rode up Thursday to avoid the rain...and the wind just about beat me to death. I had an extra day here but I needed it to simply to adjust my equilibrium. It felt like I was in a ...ahem...Tornado. Speaking of Tornados...we have a real treat coming up boys and girls. When we opened up what I like to refer to as Lower Division Stumpy's Blues Bar on 11/6/2004, the only band I could even imagine breaking the seal on our stage was...Tornado Alley. I mean...Jeff and I have owned Stumpy's for nearly ten years now and we have seen a lot of bands come and go...who could ever forget the uniqueness of Smart Like Einstein..or the smooth sounds of Robin Banks...the hard greatness of Brian Atlas..(that Nancy Atlas could sing!!)...and then there was the incredible voice of Kevin Terry and Tornado Alley. Well SLE is gone...Robin..last time I heard she was in Jamaica mon..she has been back but did not call us..Brian and Nancy live in Arkansas...I did not mention Holland K ..he has his own set of problems now) but always there was Tornado Alley...until they decided to ...take a break..a too long extended break.. Well Stumpians...Tornadoians..they are coming back...4/16/2010 Kevin et al will be on our stage...and it is gonna be great!!!

This past weekend I have to say Maurio Marcus really did one helluva job. The added keyboard mad it just awesome...you have to know by now just how I feel about a keyboard in the band...yeah yeah yeah I have heard that in Texas you have to have a Fiddle yada yada yada...but there on lower division if you wanna get the owners attention ..you got to have a keyboard in the band.

Saturday....Second Hand Soul had the dubious task of handling the Saturday before Easter Crowd....small as it was...we had a great time...SHS will be back..I owe it to them ...who check the calendar..and why do they keep moving Easter...pick a date and stay with it I say.

This weekend....Friday night...A very special happening Stumpians... Johnnie Red and The Roosters are having a CD Release Party in our house. I have a copy of the CD and for blues lovers out there...you got to get Johnnie Reds CD...it is one of the best I have heard in a while.

The Saturday night...it is not Nitzinger...it is Bobbie Mac and Souther Crossroads...finally. I had to cancel Bobbie this winter on one of our more snowy icy nights..this is his make up gig...So....let's make it up to him kids...be there...and once again my apologies to Johnnie Nitzinger...but I never got that confirmation ..it is a must. We have bands crawling out of the woodwork wanting to get on our stage. That's the name of that tune.

OK..that's all I have today...Please take time out of your day to pray for our LIBERTY defending heroes over seas.

Oliver reminded us why we love him..The ZEW reminded us why the are in the running for Best New Band of 2010...and the beautiful weather reminded me why I got my first motorcycle license in March 1964...do the math..that was 46 years ago.....egad. My stinkin back is reminding me today why it is I am instructing Mr Scott to find us some one that will show up on weekend mornings to do some light work...my head reminded me on Saturday morning why it is we stop ( or should ) at a dozen or so shots... and last but certainly not least...I was reminded in a very hard lesson that the men in the blue suits whose job it is to hide things are hard at work and never seem to let up...its a long story that only the late great Rod Serling of the Twilight Zone could tell so well...Stephen King had the right idea with the Langoliers...but not the same...BTW I found my keys...yesssssss

Ok well let me remind you of this.... This weekend at Stumpy's when you drive into the our beautiful new parking lot...notice the sign..it says Blues Bar on it...this weekend we are Thee Blues Bar...Maurio Marcus is a blues man...he is on our stage Friday night...oh yeah that reminds me...The Cantu's will be in da house...yeah baby..hey Kat...uhhh grab the D man and come see us too..

Happy Birthday to Miss Kimberly..formerly employed as a mixologist for Stumpy's...anyone out there that remembers the well endowed Shirley Temple-esque one will agree ...how appropriate her B'day is April One.

The long range forecast shows a lot of activity down on Lower Division around the middle of this month. A Tornado is coming to be sure....in their only scheduled 2010 appearance...Tornado Alley will be on our stage April 16...that's a Friday night...make plans now...we will be full!!!!

BTW....Clear Fork is April 17th...Giggity!! psst VLB is in the house on the 23rd...oh yeah do not forget..The Nosmo Kings reign on 4/24... Remind me ...who rocks?? Stumpy's Blues Bar rocks !!!

My condolences to Jessie James...the stupidest man in America...Jessie..that was Sandra Bullock on the next pillow you idiot!!!
