Zewwbie doobie doo.....oh Zewwbie doobie...sorry just still can't get Saturday night out of my head. If anyone on this planet..other than my mom...wants to know what makes me tick....well the "Last Saturday Night @Stumpy's Experience" that does it... that makes Paul Woodruff tick...well that and a few other things that mostly revolve around girls. But....we had a full house Saturday...we had lots of happy new faces...and some happy familiar faces....some incredibly beautiful women....great service from the ladies behind the bar...and...one helluva hot band...THE ZEW....oh did I mention a really busy cash register?? Yeah baby ..last Saturday night Lower Division belonged to Stumpy's...shoot Tarrant county belonged to us.
Derrick...bring that band back...and soon!!
Don't get me wrong...to have a great Saturday you have to have a great Friday night just to get the ball rolling. Read my lips..Jason Elmore and HooDoo Witch is just about one of the best blues bands I have heard...Jason did a solo acoustic set that was beyond incredible. Top that off with he is just about the nicest dude to work with I have found in a long while....Jason will be back in March as will the other half of our Dennison connection Oliver White...
Mark my words Stumpians....no one in Tarrant or Dallas Counties had the line up of great live music that we had this past weekend.....Keep that marker handy....Mark this...NO ONE HAS ANYTHING CLOSE TO WHAT WE HAVE THIS WEEKEND!!!!! WE HAVE THE BEST VENUE IN TOWN STUMPIANS!! PASS THAT WORD AROUND TOWN!!!
OK Friday night....the Bop Bop Bop best original sound in North Texas. Velvet Love Box. It is not hard at all to find superlatives to throw around this threesome...the one that comes to mind right off the top is..Worthy.
These guys are worthy of any thing good you can find to say. I for one just can't wait to hear them...there is a cover...get there before nine to avoid it. Rumor has it an East Side celebrity may be in the house... Remember Sandy from Grease?? Well it's not her..but dang close.
Saturday Night.....OWNERS PICK. About Nine years ago I went out to Cedar Hill to catch a band playing at The Box Car...I was not in the place 5 minutes before I knew that these three guys were Stumpirific. The Nosmo Kings have been Stumpians ever since. Todd, Stubby, and Phillip ... Three Musicians...Three Stumpians....Three plus one days away from blowing your socks off with the best Electric Blues you will hear this year...that is until they are back.
NOW HEAR THIS...THIS IS KAYSI'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!!!! THE PARTY STARTS WITH VELVET ON FRIDAY AND ENDS WITH THE KINGS ON SATURDAY....DO NOT MISS THIS!!!
Side Bar...just who the heck is Paul Woodruff??
It was announced today that President Obama yo Mama...wants to put a freeze on government spending... I will wait until the laughter dies down... Say what???? He wants to put a freeze on Government spending... again I say ..Say what?? Now that has to be because... One..He has spent it all...Two ... he is waiting on his April 15th paycheck...or Three..He should have never doubled down on that Massachusetts bet... By the way...let me just say this...THANK YOU MASSACHUSETTS !!!! ( the most amazing thing is I can spell Massachusetts,,how bout that Maf..pssssst do not bother making notice that I mentioned you two weeks in a row)
Gina(its in her contract)
Please remember out wonderful heroes in uniform...prayer is a powerful tool..use it.

stumpys update
This week At Stumpy's.....get ready for the best blues and rock you have seen in a while Stumpians. Jason Elmore and HooDoo Witch is comming to town. Jason is part of our Dennison Connection. This Friday will mark the third time Mr Elmore has traveled south to entertain us. Don't miss this...I want to issue a special invitation to all the J&J's Blues Barbarians out there to come check us out..maybe find a new home. It's a shame about the demise of J&J's but it happens..hopefully not to us..We are hanging in there for now...so anyway...Stumpians..Barbarians...Jason is in the house Friday night!! NO COVER...
Saturday...Party Time...Derrick is bringing THE ZEW back....oh baby..this is gonna be a party...and one of such magnitude that you might want to consider getting in your favorite spot a tad early....we are gonna be packed kids...and once again..NO COVER.
Great music this past weekend. Second Hand Soul and The Boogie Men did great jobs. My knees are still sore form being on the dance floor...especially Saturday night when "The Bad Girls" showed up. Did I say Bad??? I meant BAAAAAAD... Many thanks to the L&L twins as well.... Oh and did I mention Johnnie Walker?? He showed up in force...Along with his friends Jack, Jim. and Jose. They will be back this weekend...Maybe The BAAAAAAD Girls will be too...wooooo hoooo.
This past week was filled with awful visions of the devestation in Haiti and the heart breaking news of the loss of a 34 year old Hero, Officer Craig Story. One tragedy impacted The World immediately..the other impacts my immediate world. I've been to Haiti and seen the dire poverty first hand. The loss there and this horrible Earthquake has done damage that my generation and the next will never see healed. However, in time the nation of Haiti and its people will experience recovery. It will be slow, painful, and no doubt very expensive to the tax payers of World...translate that USA. Of course we pray for that nation. Officer Story is gone forever. A young hero to this community will never return. His loss is a deep cut into the heart of Arlington Texas. This too shall pass. Tragedy..Loss ..Pain...I hate to sound trite or cliche..but they are a part of life. I ask in a loud voice that Our Lord will assuage the pain of his wife Danielle, son John..father Danny and his Mother Michele....and will protect the unborn child his wife had informed him about the day before he was so tragically taken. I also want to personally thank all of the young men and women that protect our streets, businesses, homes, and families. Craig's death serves no purpose other than to remind us just how indebted we are to our law enforcement community.
As long as you are on your knees do not forget our American Service personal in the Middle East...as well as those in all corners of this planet. When you read about this economic downturn and see all the people we have become so close to that are having hard times...don't think about what we do not have ..think about all we take for granted. Our possessions are abundant.
Ride with the Angels Craig.

Stumpys Update
Brrrrrr...I am fairly certain I am a warm weather animal...apparently most Stumpians are...the crowds were juuuust bit smallish this weekend...but thanks to big John's Birthday...we did all right at the old register. Ergo..no complaints from The Woodster. Still....it was just awful cold. (If I might steal a line from the late great Johnny Carson)...It was so cold I saw two attorneys walking around with their hands in their own pockets. And.....It was so cold Gerrronica was down graded for hot to tepid...It was so cold the guy that sells the fake Rolexes was selling fake heaters..It was so cold the Crack Whores on Division moved south to Abrams(they are crack whores...not rocket scientists)....Finally...It was so cold Gina asked for the Tuaca to be served warm...now that my friends is c-c-c-cold.
OK...so this week...'pose to be wet but not all that cold so get out of the house Stumpians!!! Friday night..on your stage...Ed Russo...Paul Pruitt..and the rest of their blues cats..they will be there as the hot hot hot...Second Hand Soul. This is a one night pleasure trip music lovers....SHS has been bringing it for a while now and they are not to be missed....they are only one of perhaps five hands that played for us when we were about three miles east in our old location...come on Stumpians let's make this a reunion weekend of the original Stumpians...pass the word...because..on Saturday night another of the Stumpy's Originals will be on your stage....Greg Walling brings in his Boogie Men...now this may just be the best dance band we have ever had....so put on your boogie shoes for The Boogie Men Saturday night. Pass the word Stumpians....This is a Stumpy's Reunion Weekend. Friday night...The Original Second Hand Soul...Saturday night..the Original Boogie Men!!!! I want to see some faces I have not seen in a while...right next to the ones I see every week....PASS THE WORD STUMPIANS ONE AND ALL!!!!
Many thanks to Mr Holland K Smith and to Mr Mario Marcus...their hot blues kept us from freezing last weekend.
Top Five Reasons to come have a beer at Stumpy's this weekend instead of listening to President Obama's
State of the Union Speech...Beer is better than Obama because beer has a pretty good head on it. Beer is better than Obama because you know what's in beer. Beer is better than Obama because beer won't take half your paycheck. Beer is better than Obama because beer makes life a little better. And the number one reason... ...Beer is better than Obama because you're sad if there's no more beer.
Remember to pray for your troops...cold is bad but cold when there are people trying to kill you is a lot worse.
Peace/Victory
