Oliver reminded us why we love him..The ZEW reminded us why the are in the running for Best New Band of 2010...and the beautiful weather reminded me why I got my first motorcycle license in March 1964...do the math..that was 46 years ago.....egad. My stinkin back is reminding me today why it is I am instructing Mr Scott to find us some one that will show up on weekend mornings to do some light work...my head reminded me on Saturday morning why it is we stop ( or should ) at a dozen or so shots... and last but certainly not least...I was reminded in a very hard lesson that the men in the blue suits whose job it is to hide things are hard at work and never seem to let up...its a long story that only the late great Rod Serling of the Twilight Zone could tell so well...Stephen King had the right idea with the Langoliers...but not the same...BTW I found my keys...yesssssss

I may be too depressed to write today. Circumstances, Reality, Deception, Avoidance, Smoke & Mirrors, Double Talk, Testicle Challengedness, and just Pure Fanciful Thought... I get a little tired. I get a little damn tired of doing what I honestly think it the right thing..only to find out that it must have been wrong because of the reactions I receive...I mean reasonable rational adults just do not act that way. Dishonest disturbed adolescents..yes...men with hair....no. Tick Tick Tick...my patience wear-eth thin.
Do not even ask..it will get you no where.
Another in a line of new bands came in and blew us away Friday night!!...The Pontiax....nice gig. I did not hear one single complaint..of course in my current frame of mind I might not have been listening..but..I think I would have picked up on a complaint about the band. I liked them...I am going to book them again..if there is an again....oooo hush of course there will be. I am just sort of disgusted right now...probably the best thing for me to do is to stay away for a while. But I ain't gonna do that. At least not this Friday.

Friday night...March 26th....2009 Winner of the Stumpee for The Best Original Blues Player On Lower Division.....THE OLIVER WHITE GROUP..featuring...duh...Oliver White. This guy is more that just (as Kaysi put's it) Eye Candy..Oliver is a terrific talent and for one I can't wait to hear him again. I am making this a Stumpian Must Attend Event....
Saturday Night....The Zew...this is their third time in and if it is like the other two...arrive early. This is classic rock like it should be...hot hot hot...I will be in the house this Saturday...my apologies to Just N Tyme for being absent this Saturday past...I had biddness to do and cobwebs to clear out...I did not nearly get all the time away I needed...sorry its a fact of life..sort of like relationship problems...
Another nice segway...wow I am good at something anyway...
My grandpa had a little ranch south of Houston that I have fond memories of. Out in the front yard there was always an odd combination of animals hanging out...two of my favorites were a couple of lop eared hounds...Deanna and Reeve...they were not like a solid couple but they seemed to be matched real well. I mean they could be apart but you always figured if you saw one sooner or later you would see the other and then after a round routine ass sniffing..off they would go together...or maybe they would just hang in the yard together with the rest of the menagerie. Well..one day Reeve was feeling a little off...he was more interested in maybe just some alone time and when Deanna went to give his ass a sniff...whoa...Reeve snapped at her a good one. I mean he let her know that he was not a happy old dog. It might not have meant so much but he barked at her right there in the yard in front of all the other animals. Deanna was mad...Reeve was mad...and this marvelously matched pair of hound dogs...went their separate ways. Long story short...in time Reeve one day wandered into the yard and without thinking ..took a sniff of Deanna's ass...She then sniffed Reeve's and 30 seconds later...neither remembered anything accept the other. The key words there are...WITHOUT THINKING...Deanna and Reeve were dogs...the ass sniffing was more important than the hurt feelings...too bad we stupid humans can't be the same way....Hey...Forget the Riff, Take a Sniff.
Pray for our Heroes in Afghanistan and Iraq.

stumpys update
I am officially getting old and forgetful....When I left town Sunday I forgot some paper work I should have brought back with me..I forgot my shaving kit...this morning I forgot my lunch...and last night when I remembered where I lived...as I started to go over in my mind all that I had forgotten....I realized I had forgotten to compose and send out the update....doooiiiiingggg!!! Alrighty then...hey I hate to admit this but last week when I got into town I noticed that my boots did not match..that's a bad one...and people wonder why I am single...HA!!!. However..I am thinking that maybe that is the key...perhaps single at this advanced age is not the best way to roll. Maybe...just maybe...a partner...a wife...a GF...seeing eye dog...something, or someone to give me just the right amount of assistance to make it from point A to point B. It's a thought..applications will be taken @Stumpy's...five barstools down from the left. References not required...Longing Looks filled with desire appreciated.
OK....hey that was a nice weekend Stumpians..from what I remember. Let's start with Ball and Chain...Fridays entertainment...not bad....not bad at all. They were not as smooth as they will be after a few more gigs but they have a world of talent. From what I understand this was their first gig in a while. It showed at times...but...the next time they are at Stumpy's...and there will be a next time...they will be on their way to becoming one of our regulars...great gig...fun band....I liked them...oh yeah nice crowd of followers(that is the most important part..) Now Saturday .....
Jason Elmore and Hoo Doo Witch... Qamazing...it's my word to describe terrific events that are beyond all normal accolades. Qamazing!!!(I have to give SJ some credit for that word)...That really was a heck of good night...Great Party..thanks Weezy, Julie B, Diane, Nay Nay, and every one else that anything to do with that. Some nights you get it right...I got it right when I called Jason to play for us that night. At least I did not forget to do that... Jason will be back with us on May the 8th to host his CD Release Party. We need to all be there to thank him for choosing our home to release what I am certain is going to be a monster CD. Hey in an indication of just how huge that night was...The BAD GIRLS were the all night long!!! Woooo Hooooo!!!!!!

However....Gina will beholding court on my behalf. She will be in charge of all irrational behavior and any or all incomprehensible mumbo jumbo. Its a good thing ....Friday night it is her and her insignificant other's(Steve/Bob) band...this is their guy..or is it non guy...(with those two I can never tell...PS..Steve/Bob is my hero/bob...he gets away with everything and still gets the girl in the end...well maybe not the end...yada yada yada)...back to the band....Scott Copeland is in the house....He is already been nominated for a Stumpee in the Best new Band category. Saturday...our PSEUDO HOUSE BAND...Just N Tyme...these guys are like Miller Draft and a Shot...always smooth with a kick. NO COVERS EITHER NIGHT!!!

Apparently I need to make a small point. Stumpy's is our home. I want everyone to understand that the one thing on this planet I love more than anything else is have a chance to play the host and do everything I can to see to it there are a lot of smiles filling the house...but just like any home, Stumpy's is a business. We have to do certain things to assure that we will be there for a long time to come....and that is all I am going to say on that subject.
Please say a prayer every time you look around and see all the absence of suicide bombers, IED's, and unshaven, bad breathed, poor hair-cutted terrorists intent on killing you. Say that prayer for the uniformed men and women in the middle east protecting YOUR LIBERTIES!!!

I have never been one to tell a person, or persons, what to do.(unless I was signing their paycheck then hell to the yeah!!)...I have never been one to use my rather captivating charm to strongly influence a person, or persons to do what I might suggest(unless it was single lady whose charms were more that any man could resist or she was breathing and available..and then..hell to the yeah!!)...and I was never one to pout, hold my breath, or throw a fit to get someone to do my bidding(that is unless there was pie involved..then hell to the yeah!!) BUT.....I am considering using all and any of my powers to get all those within the sound of my voice or within the sight of these words...to make their way to Stumpy's this Saturday Night...Jason Elmore and Hoo Doo Witch are in the house. Do you realize just how good this dude is?? Have I ever steered you wrong...intentionally..lately...or that you can prove?? Here's the deal....if you come and you do not think Jason is every thing I say he is and more..I will look you right in the eye and admit I was wrong...and that is something three different Mrs Woodruffs were never able to do..and I was sleeping with them..almost exclusively. Jason Elmore...along with Oliver White(@Stumpys Friday March 26th) are two young men from North Texas that are going to be the salvation of The Blues... Come See Jason...Save The Blues!!!... stumpys update
OK....so much for February. On to March....and that means Springtime cannot be far away...THANK GOD!!!!....I am sick of cold wet/frozen precipitation. I am sick of not being on two wheels....I am not that hard core...ok I'm a wuss. I am sick and tired...of being sick and tired. No more colds...No more coughs...no more teacher's dirty looks...oh wait ..wrong prose. ..but I have to figure you catch my drift...Come On Spring!!! Come on Daylight Savings Time!! Come on Jason Elmore...Come on Oliver White...just looking at the musical line up for March has me....well you know...just sayin... March starts off with the Blues...and ends in The ZEW. In the middle we have everything from a touch of Heavy Metal to Classic Rock to the Best Original Blues you will hear any where in five counties....and all this with out one single solitary irritating no good piece of crap...cover charge. I hate cover charges. I hate taking a cover charge...but sometimes..it is a necessary evil....just not in March 2010 at Stumpy's Blues Bar. Donations are of course welcomed.....yeah right.
This Friday....Mr Howard Starling...Howard is a blues man. Howard is the blues baby. Last time...he had his best crowd ever. Let's beat that. I know the folks that were there last month will want to see him again...I bet they bring their friends....NO COVER!!!!!
Saturday.....The Room Shakers....we all know how good they are...Monty et al will be onstage at 9:30...I will be in the crowd before that..I want a good seat.

Tomorrow is Primary Election Day in Texas....it is also Texas Independence Day...it is also the last day we have to endure all the insane political attack ads....good Lord....if you believe what you hear Rick Perry may or may not be a bit of a gurly mon who lives in a 10,000.00 per month house and gets pedicures...Kay Bailey may or may not be the second coming of Nancy Pelosi ( there is not anyone on this planet or the next I could say that about...sheeesh)... This poor Medina woman is a nut ball that may or may not believe we knocked down the Twin Towers ourselves..... Bill White is an idiot...and Farouk Shami...well no need to attack him ...he has "that" name...(sort of like Obama yo Mama). Personally I am sick of it. I just wrote in a friend's name. I liked her Chicken in every Pot philosophy ...."Fire in the fireplace...Daddy on the sofa....Doggie under each arm...and Mich Ultra on ice." Sounds good to me.
Congratulations to Louann...she got her new LV!!!!!...whew...that was touch and go...
Remember to say a fervent prayer for our Hero Defenders of LIBERTY...They so need His protection.
